These works were part of the wheel timber replacement project at a rail bridge over mill stream at Ashurst in Kent.
The overall scope of the project included:
- Removing existing track, sleepers, and wheel timbers
- Adapting existing bridge steel-work members
- Installing new wheel timbers, sleepers, and track
- installing new GRP walkways over the bridge structure
The works were carried out during four, 52-hour weekend possessions.
Our team's objective during this project was to install a Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) grid walkway. This involved our work team being flexible and interfacing with other parties. Our work scope required the installation of primary steel cleats along with steel angle sections to support the new GRP panels.
